History and Community Presence... Family Abuse Services of Alamance County has been dedicated to the prevention and intervention of domestic violence through emergency relief support as well as promotion of healthy lifestyles and relationships since 1985. Recently highlighted as an exemplary partner in a unified community initiative against domestic violence by the Governor’s Crime Commission, Family Abuse Services continues to set a high standard of care for victims of domestic violence. FAS partners with key community agencies, institutions and organizations utilizing a variety of programs in an effort to reach into the future and erase the threat of domestic violence. Those agencies include local law enforcement personnel from the cities of Burlington and Graham as well as the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office, DSS, Crossroads Sexual Assault Response and Resource Center, Alamance Regional Medical Center, Alamance-Burlington School System, Legal Aid of NC and others. Our Encouragement To Victims and Survivors... Your courage is what keeps you alive. Bank on that same courage and take that next step to get help. Family Abuse Services provides safety planning and shelter as well as many other services. To those who are survivors, as well as victims, and in need of support, our support group is available every Wednesday evening from 5:30 to 7:00pm. You will find companionship and healing in an environment of comfort. For more detailed information please click on the “Getting Help” button and the “Our Services” button to the left. |
